You run a retail business or a distribution company in Houston. Flooring and tile, restaurant supply, industrial parts, office furniture, specialty foods: your buyers are homeowners, contractors, restaurants, facilities managers and purchasing teams along the Energy Corridor. You know more and more of them look for a supplier on their phone before they call or drive over. But when it is time to set a budget, the question stalls: how much should go into visibility each month, and how do you know whether that number makes sense?
This guide helps you set that budget the way an owner should, starting from what a customer is worth to you, and then compare it honestly with the two other options that come to mind: hiring someone, or paying for ads.
Start from the value of a customer, not a round number
The worst way to set a visibility budget is to pick a figure that feels about right. The better way is to start from what a new customer brings you over a year.
For a walk-in retail sale, one customer may not be worth much. For a distributor, a business account that orders every month (a restaurant group in Midtown, a contractor in Katy, a property manager with a dozen buildings) can be worth a great deal of margin over a year. From there the question becomes simple: how many accounts like that do you need to win for the investment to pay for itself? Our guide on how many new customers it takes to break even walks through that reasoning.
The budgets available with Traffic Engine
These are the Traffic Engine plans in US dollars. They are this offer's prices, not an average of what others charge.
| Plan | Per month | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Presence | $1,200 | A store that wants steady, baseline visibility |
| Momentum | $2,100 | A distributor aiming to grow inquiries; the most common choice |
| Flood | $3,850 | A business that wants an intensive push |
| Momentum Exclusive | $4,250 | Lock your industry: no competitor served during the commitment |
| Flood Exclusive | $6,450 | Intensive visibility with your industry locked |
On top of that there is a one-time setup of $1,650 and, as the entry point, a Visibility Audit at $750, fully credited against the setup if you start within 30 days. The commitment is 12 months. In year one that comes to $16,050 with Presence, $26,850 with Momentum and $47,850 with Flood.
Put those numbers next to what one good business account is worth to you and the answer usually becomes clear quickly. The calculator on the offer page does the math with your own customer value and shows the ramp-up over the first three months.
Comparing with a hire
The other option owners often consider is hiring someone to handle digital marketing. Before you do, add up the full annual cost using your own numbers: salary, payroll taxes, benefits, equipment, software, training, and the hours you will spend managing them. Then add the risk that they leave after a year, taking what they learned with them.
Above all, ask what that person will actually produce. In a retail or distribution business, they quickly get pulled into the urgent stuff: product photos, social posts for this weekend's sale, answering messages. The steady work that makes your business show up when a buyer searches for a supplier tends to slip.
Comparing with advertising
Paid ads are tempting: you spend, and you see a reaction right away. For a seasonal sale, a new product line or a store opening, they have a place. But they have two limits.
- They stop when the budget stops. The day you pause, the leads dry up. Nothing accumulates.
- They mostly reach people who were not looking. Likes do not pay invoices. The facilities manager searching for a commercial flooring supplier in Houston has a need, and usually a budget.
Our guide paid ads or lasting visibility for a retailer compares the two in detail.
How to pick your level
- How many new customers can you serve? There is no point in an intensive plan if your inventory or delivery capacity cannot keep up. If you do have capacity, Momentum or Flood make sense.
- How crowded is your category? If several direct competitors are already easy to find, a stronger plan helps you close the gap.
- Do you want to lock out competitors? Exclusive plans are only available while no competitor has signed. Once the first standard seat is taken, exclusivity is off the table.
